Burial will be held privately at the convenience of the family. Calling hours will precede the service at the funeral home from 2:00pm – 4:00pm.Allen passed away at Samaritan Medical Center Monday, December 17th. He was 70 years old.Born in Watertown March 31, 1948, Allen was a son to Carl and Bernice (Burker) Benway. He was educated locally, and served in Vietnam with the United States Army.Following an honorable discharge, Allen worked as a laborer with several local construction outfits.On February 21, 1991 he married Karen VanWormer in Watertown. The service was officiated by Howard George, Justice of the Peace.Allen enjoyed golfing, fishing, softball, the Dallas Cowboys, and the New York Yankees.Surviving besides his wife, Karen, is a step-son: Jeremiah Calwell; a grandson: Tyler Calwell; a sister: Tzana Treadway; a brother: Carl “Fred” Benway; and a step-sister: Anne DuMond.
